The glass shade is greatly adjustable so you can control how much light is needed for different tasks.Also, it is heavy lamp, which doesn't slide or sway. The new long-life energy saving florescent bulbs work very well. I use a 10w which gives lots of light. For my situation, I debated between buying a LED lamp and this older fashion design. I'm glad I chose this one. I find the lamp and the shade to be attractive. Delivery time was excellent. I am very satisfied with this desk lamp.
