(More customer reviews)I needed a light on a counter in my stainless steel kitchen. It isn't in the "work" are, so it doesn't need a lot of light, just a bit to brighten up that side of the kitchen. This fit the bill perfectly. Its clean design goes well in my kitchen and, with the proper bulb, provides just the right amount of background light for the area without being intrusive. I didn't like the curly 60-watt bulb that comes with the lamp. I'll use it somewhere else. I replaced it with a 50 watt "up light" flood-type bulb. This directs the light upward through the top of the lamp, but there is no glare through the fabric shade.
