(More customer reviews)This photo is a little misleading, but the description, in the title, of a 'fabric shade' is completely inacurrate. The photo makes it appear as if the lamp shade has `lighter' areas, offset by darker areas. It gave me the impression that light from the bulb would penetrate the (so called) 'fabric' shade in those lighter areas. Wrong! The shade is not 'fabric' by any means. It's a solid, opaque plastic-like material, which allows absolutely NO light to 'penetrate'. During the daytime, the lamp is very nice. But at night, no matter what wattage of bulb you use, the lampshade remains completely dark....almost muddy-like when seen from a short distance. The lamp `does' indeed shine light through the top and bottom of the shade, but there's no soft glow of light that comes `through' the shade like you'd expect...IF it was really a fabric shade. It's Ok for lighting just a desk, or small table, but if you wanted to gently illuminate a small room (or even a portion of a room), this lamp isn't a good choice.
