(More customer reviews)I bought this chandelier light fixture when I moved into my townhouse condo. The dining room presented a challenge, since it is recent construction, and does not have very high ceilings. Taller, more vertical fixtures just weren't the right fit for this room, as they overwhelmed the space and had to be hung SO close to the ceiling as to make the proportions all wrong. I was SO glad when I found this fixture! The modest vertical height allowed me to hang the fixture, and achieve the correct chandelier proportions over a table, while not completely dominating the space. I honestly believe this fixture makes the room feel more vertically spacious than it's dimensions.
The styling is ideal as well, since the shape can lend itself to more traditional furnishings, while the finish can transition to modern very easily. It is very versatile in that regard, which was important since I'd not gotten dining furniture yet when I had to make a decision on the light fixture (the previous owner wanted to take her nearly flush-mount fixture with her, so agreed to have an electrician install a fixture of my choosing before the closing). I think this fixture helps make the room balanced, and the previous flush-mount fixture was not doing the vertically challenged room any favors.
I am so pleased with this fixture - it allows for a hanging fixture, without demanding a lot of vertical space. It definitely enhances the perceived space of my small dining room. The styling is understated and can blend well with either traditional or modern furnishings. The upward-facing shades provide a lovely diffuse light, and are tall enough that you will not see the light bulbs unless standing on a chair to change one out. If using compact florescent lamps, though, be aware that you will need to choose a lamp (light bulb) which is more short/wide than tall and thin, to avoid the tip from peeking over the top of the glass shade. I tried an older, "taller" CF, and had to swap it out for the more modern, squatter shaped bulbs.
Overall, this is a lovely and versatile fixture.
