1) It is a light (and nicely bright)
2) It comes on when there is motion (it turns on very quickly when you come in the room)
3) It has lasted 3 years without failingI have this and another motion detector light that is now discontinued. I was looking to buy a few more and realized there werent any reviews.
I'll never understand why anyone uses an "always on" light over these, they are awesome.
